Since childhood I have been a keen book collector,. My passion for art, for bookbinding and for printing, has led me to develop a strong academic interest in the history of the book. My research in the area of book history does have a bibliographical element to it, but as a Art Historian I am particularly passionate about the materiality of books; how books were bound, decorated, used and valued as objects and the traces they leave behind of their ownership. My current research is primarily within the rich collection of the Roderic Bowen research centre at Lampeter and you can get a sense of my ongoing research here. I also contribute a monthly column for the journal New Directions, focusing on bibliography and book history.
